Learn about this Training: Training that jump-started the Pregnancy Center Community into After abortion recovery

Last Harvest – The Outreach has been training centers since 1987 in the area of after abortion recovery leadership. It is one thing to be trained by someone promoting a course and another to be trained by one of the original pioneers in the recovery movement who brings a three-decade experience and wisdom to the training. (LEARN MORE!)

Over 100 training weekends were held during the ten years, 1988 through 1998 in cities and towns across the United States. Over 2,500 directors and staff members from California, Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Illinois, Milwaukee and other states. Training has continued online since 1999 training and equipping over 300 group facilitators and center staff. Why? Because of the affordable cost and the depth of wisdom and knowledge of the area of recovery from a Christian perspective. Books written by the outreach include Healing the Hurts of Abortion (1987 – 1997) and FREE ME TO LIVE (1993 – present). Additionally, the outreach syndicated over 2000 daily shows, “Abortion Awareness in Action” from 1985-1990 and was the radio host of the Someone Cares late night radio show on a 100,000 watt FM station in Dallas, Tx from 1989-1990. The outreach trained and conducted the closure Memorial Service for the Unborn at the NOPAR International Conference run by Vicki Thorn. (National Office of Post-Abortion Reconciliation through the Respect Life Office) at Marquette University in Milwaukee from 1985 until 1995.

History behind this training

History of the BASICS course

It was birthed in 1988 following the publishing of “Healing the Hurts of Abortion.” It was written originally for the training of our own facilitator team following our first-ever support group. Eighty center directors, learning about the training came from five neighboring states. This led to Ken’s being invited to their towns and cities. Each training resulted in new invitations. The training weekends that started in Dallas, Tx became twenty meetings a year for ten years. Three-day seminar workshops training directors and staff across the United States. It was this interaction with centers that led to the expansion of the course to a whole person, gender-neutral, issue-neutral approach called “Free Me to Live” in 1993. This expanded course has been through twelve iterations as of 2015. Over the years, thus far, we estimate that this outreach has served more than 36,000 through recovery in person, in training or online.
